What Services I'm Providing

Researcher
Worked for close to 25 years on forests
dynamics using large scale plots (IPS-UniBern Transect P, CTFS-ForestGEO sites in Korup NP and
smaller plots in logging concessions (GD, SEFAC and TRC) for the
development of ecological monitoring programmes as required for timber
certification. Network of 0.1 ha plots in the major mangrove blocks in Cameroon for assessing vulnerability, resilience and adaptations to CC and other forms of perturbations

Teaching foundation courses at all levels – Biostatistics, Research methodology and Scientific Writing. Curriculum development for professional Undergraduate programes (Forestry and Wildlife, Horticultural Science) and graduate degree programmes (Wetland Ecology and Management, Conservation Biology and Forest Science).
Served as a national consultant to GCP/CMR/030/GFF mangrove project executed by FAO CRM and MINEPDED. Developed and operationalized a monitoring and evaluation plan (activities and impact) for entire duration of project in all of the major mangrove blocks of Cameroon. What My Reviewers Say
Professor George Bindeh Chuyong is a seasoned committed researcher, professional, consultant and professor of Forest Ecology and Management with several peer reviewed publications and over 25 years of experience in the subject with contributions in nearly all major vegetation types ranging from mangroves, rainforests and savanna woodlands including plantations. He has contibuted enormously in shaping the conservation landscape in Cameroon and beyond. His local, national capacity building efforts had contibuted in producing many PhDs nationally and internationally for which Iam happy to be one (university of Freiburg Germany) I wish him longlife, God’s guidiance and fruitful endevours to continuously serving humanity
Biometrician and Mangrove & Wetlands Management Expert. National Coordinator , Cameroon Conservation Society (CWCS) and Cameroon Mangrove Network (CMN).
I know Prof. George B. Chuyong as a renowned tropical plant ecologist, though his students’ testimonies are equally flattering. I’ve had the privilege of working with him for the past 25 years within the framework of a long-term monitoring plot in Korup NP, Cameroon. In the recent years his consultancy work has made him to expand his research to nearly all the ecosystems in central Africa, making him one of best environmental consultants in Central Africa. He is a renowned quantitative ecologist, as he has published over 70 papers, in high impact journals that are highly cited, giving him a high h-index of 30. Academically, he has supervised countless number of master and PhD students. He is focused and determined when work is concerned and that’s why our collaboration will always go further.

I have known Dr. George Chuyong for over 35 years as a former classmate and friend. In this present age where trust is in short supply, Dr. Chuyong has proven to be very dependable and trustworthy. One of the qualities I admire in him is his quest for knowledge and continuous growth academically. He has a knack for building a consensus with teams and relates well with others. Its no surprise he has friends on six different continents.

Since his successful PhD studies under my supervision at Stirling University in UK, George Chuyong has gone on to a noteworthy career in tropical forest ecology. He has established himself as university teacher, researcher, international team member and applied forestry consultant. These achievements demonstrate his scientific problem solving abilities, his concerns for forest ecosystem conservation, and his wide management skills.
